Create an Easy Water Garden
Friday, July 9, 2010, 08:43 AM
Anyone who thought being a water gardener strictly involved a large, water-filled pond in the backyard with a waterfall or stream has never been captured by the beauty and simplicity of a container water garden.
Any vessel that holds water and supports plant life can be transformed into a container water garden. However, containers made specifically to serve as container water gardens are populating garden center shelves across the country. These specially made containers make it extremely easy to enjoy a miniature water garden.
These container water gardens can go almost anywhere in the landscape; whether placed near the front door, tucked in a corner of a garden path, or added to a small balcony or patio.
Little work is required to turn a container water garden into a breathtaking, mini ecosystem pond. Simply rinse the inside of the bowl and partially fill with water. Then place plants on the ledge inside the bowl or at the bottom of the bowl.
Add decorative rocks to naturalize the container water garden and provide surface area for bacteria to grow, which the fish will happily consume! Acclimate your fish to the water by placing them, still bagged from the store, into the filled container garden. A small spitter or fountain can be added to the container to help aerate the water and provide a soothing sound. With the ease of container water gardens anyone can enjoy the sound and beauty of water, even in the smallest of spaces.

Ditch Witch Mini Skid Steer
Tuesday, February 2, 2010, 02:17 PM

Here at Kimberly Nurseries we believe in efficiency. Did you know that with this one piece of equipment we can save up to 30% in landscape labor? This not only helps us get the job done faster, but saves you both time and money. A landscape job that can be completed faster will cost you less money. Each year we take a look at the new technology and equipment that has been released to find a more efficient way of doing our job. This mini-skid is just one little addition to our repertoire that will save you money. Think of all the other education, experience and tools we have added in the 103 years we have been serving you.
Here are the attachments for the Mini Skid SK650 we put into action and use on a regular basis to help us be more efficient in our job.
Small Auger – This make mass planting of shrubs go much faster.
Large Auger – Typically a hole for a large tree can take up to an hour to dig depending upon soil conditions. With this one addition it can save great amounts of time, making digging a hole quick and easy.
Forks – A very versatile attachment that really helps in almost every aspect of work from loading and unloading pallets to moving around trees and boulders.
½ Yard Bucket – A wheel barrow is typically ¼ yard or less. Not only can we move more material but we can do it much faster.
Backhoe – This is just the ticket for those sticky situations where we need to work around tricky obstacles.

Proper Soil for Your Landscape
Monday, January 25, 2010, 01:25 PM
The more you learn about landscape shrubs and trees the more you may realize that soil conditions can be key to their survival and ability to reach their potential. One of the best ways to find out is by getting a soil test done on your property. This way you know what plant material will work best in your soil. Here in Idaho our soil is very alkaline, which means that the soil pH is over 7. If you have any questions regarding which type of plant material work best in our soil don’t hesitate to post back your question, email us or give us a call (208-733-2717). Listed below you will find a local company that does soil testing.

A few prophetic quotes from Martin Luther King Jr.
“Change does not roll in on wheels of inevitability, but comes through continuous struggle.”
"The quality, not the longevity, of one's life is what is important."
"Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase."
